Star Garden Trail
Discover the Twelve Stations of Meditation
The Star Garden Trail is a journey through the heavens here on sacred land in Paso Robles, California. Each station you come to represents a constellation in the Zodiac - a system that has been long used for self-reflection, seeking answers to a problem, or decoding messages from the energies around us.
The Star Garden was created by Douglas Ayres, the proprietor of this estate. He seeks to inspire people of all spiritualities in a place that doesn’t require specific knowledge or adherence to a certain set of beliefs. With his own tools of intuition and guidance from the heavens, he designed twelve stations for meditation.
The Twelve Stations
Whether you appreciate the Zodiac or not, the meanings associated with each constellation are universal and can help you tap into new wisdom. But finding that wisdom takes openness, intuition and a little bit of knowledge.
As you travel to each station along the path you have chosen, spend some time thinking about the meaning of each sign. Try piecing together how any or all of the things you feel may have a message for you. Don’t get discouraged. Oftentimes it’s at the very end of your journey that an entire story emerges about the path you have walked.

The Path of the Stars
Early astronomers observed the constellations as if they were moving across the trail of the heavens. They felt awe and wonder at both the seeming randomness and order of the stars. They believed they were witnessing a universal clockwork far bigger than ourselves while appreciating our place in the machinery and the energy our existence gave it.
From the most ancient of our histories, they understood that “as above, so below,” the idea that as the heavens changed, so did the seasons and events of our lives. The Star Garden Trail was built to reflect this structure so you could move through it and find your place. You can do this by making your own path, or try walking some of these seven.
The Star Path
Start at Aries and walk the trail in the order of the Zodiac until you finish at Pisces. This is the natural progression of the year.
The Life Path
Start the trail at the Zodiac sign of your birth.
The Meaning Path
Find clues about your life’s meaning by planning to walk the trail and end at the Zodiac sign of your birth.
The Purpose Path
Look at the correspondence chart and find a Quality or Question to decide what sign you would like your journey to focus on. Then plan to walk the trail to end at that sign so you can listen for input from each station along your way.
The Fairy Path
Acquire a Fairy’s Cross from the Front Desk or Tasting Room and start your journey at one of the signs at a crossroads. Carry the stone in your hand and close your eyes at each station thinking of something that makes you happy. Open your eyes very slowly until they are barely open and you may see fairies!
The Shaman Path
Acquire a pair of Shaman Stones from the Front Desk or Tasting Room and plan to end your journey at the top of the hill. Hold one stone in each hand at each station while you meditate and listen. What messages do you get?
The Intuitive Path
Walk one of the two labyrinths prior to starting your journey and listen for what it is you need most in your life, or what question you want to ask at this moment. Then look at the guide and plan to end your journey at the Zodiac sign that corresponds with that purpose. Walk the trail and meditate on how the qualities of each of the signs contributes to the answer you seek.
